Most small business owners I talk to in Kalgoorlie and Perth assume a real website costs four or five grand minimum. So they put it off. They run the business off a Facebook page, hand out business cards with no URL on them, and lose leads to the competitor who turns up first on Google.
The idea that websites cost a fortune is not completely wrong. A lot of agencies do charge that, and for some businesses it is the right call. But for a sole trader, a small services business, or a single-location operation that just needs to look professional and show up when people search, you do not need a five grand website.
Here is what $999 actually buys you with our Essentials package, and what it does not.
What is in it
- Professional design and build, done by hand, no templates
- Mobile and tablet optimised, because more than half your visitors will be on a phone
- Contact form so people can reach you without picking up the phone
- Domain connection, we point your existing or new domain to the site
- Basic SEO setup so Google can find and index it
- Favicon and brand consistency across the site
- Basic speed optimisation, fast enough to keep people from bouncing
- 1 round of revisions after the first draft
- 14 days of post launch support for any small fixes
That is a working, professional website that does what most small businesses actually need. It gives you a place to send people, shows up when they search your business name, and lets them get in touch.
What it will not do
This is the part most blog posts skip. Honest answer here.
It will not be a 20 page site. Essentials is built around a tight, focused site. Homepage, about, services, contact, maybe one more. If you need a page per suburb you service, or a page per product line, that is a different package.
It will not rank you for competitive search terms on its own. Basic SEO setup means the site is structured properly so Google understands it. It does not mean you will be number one for "electrician Perth" in a week. Ranking takes time and ongoing work. No honest web designer will promise otherwise.
It will not include a Google Business Profile setup. That is in the Growth package. You can do it yourself, it is free, but it takes a couple of hours and a few tries to get approved.
It will not have a blog, portfolio gallery, or custom email automations. Those are Authority features.
It will not include unlimited tweaks. One round of revisions means you give us feedback once after the first draft, we make the changes, and we launch. Most clients do not need more than that. If you want to keep iterating, you would want Growth.
Who this works for
Essentials is built for businesses where the website's job is to look credible and convert visitors who are already looking for you. A few examples of who this fits:
- A sole trader sparky, plumber or builder who gets most work from word of mouth but needs a real website when people Google them
- A bookkeeper or accountant working from home, who needs a professional online presence to land bigger clients
- A small mobile business such as a mobile mechanic, dog groomer or cleaner servicing one town or area
- A new business launching in the next month who needs to be live before they start advertising
- A consultant or coach who needs a site for credibility and a contact form
If that sounds like you, $999 is enough. You do not need to spend more.
When you actually need Growth or Authority
I will be honest about where Essentials runs out.
Go Growth ($1,999) if:
- You want Google to actively work for you, not just index you. Full SEO setup, sitemap submission, Google Business Profile, Maps integration and Analytics are all in Growth
- You service multiple suburbs or towns and want pages for each
- You want both a contact form and a quote form
- You expect to ask for more than one round of changes
Go Authority ($3,500+) if:
- You want to publish blog posts or news regularly
- You need a portfolio or gallery to show your work
- You want a 90+ Google PageSpeed score and serious performance tuning
- You want competitor analysis built into the strategy
- You want custom forms that trigger automated emails
Most small businesses do not need Authority. A lot do not even need Growth. Do not let anyone talk you into a bigger package than the work warrants.
The real cost of waiting
Here is what I see happen with businesses that hold off because they think they cannot afford a website.
They keep running off a Facebook page that does not show up in Google search. They lose customers to competitors with a basic site that ranks for their business name. They get quotes from agencies for six grand and decide it is too much, then do nothing for another year. Meanwhile they are missing out on the work a $999 site would have brought in months ago.
A website is not a marketing campaign. It is the front door of your business. Most small businesses just need a working front door, not a marble lobby.
Bottom line
$999 with us gets you a real website. Hand built, mobile friendly, fast enough, structured properly for Google. It is not a magic lead machine. No website is. But it is the foundation that makes everything else work. Your Google Business Profile, your local SEO, your ads if you ever run them. All of it relies on having a proper site to point to.
If you are sitting on the fence about getting a website because you assumed it would cost five grand, get in touch. We will tell you straight up whether Essentials is enough for what you need, or whether you should look at Growth instead. No pressure either way.
